The Johns Hopkins Medicine Lyme Disease Research Center was established in 2015 under the direction of John Aucott, MD. Our clinical research team sees patients at Johns Hopkins at Green Spring Station and to date we have seen over 1000 patients. The Center also has a research-only location at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Division of Rheumatology.
Lyme disease is a complex illness with both acute and chronic manifestations. We see patients with active skin lesions of acute Lyme disease. We also see patients with late or chronic manifestations of Lyme disease on a consultative basis by referral from a primary care physician.
Our mission is to understand and urgently address the varied manifestations of Lyme disease and translate our pioneering multidisciplinary research into improved patient care, education, and health outcomes.
Our current research programs are focused on advancing the understanding of biologic disease mechanisms and on improving the accuracy of diagnostic tests for all presentations of Lyme disease.
We are excited to begin treatment studies in 2022.
